Hala Gąsienicowa

Hala Gąsienicowa – a former shepherd’s pasture in the northern part of the Gąsienicowa Valley in the Western Tatras. It is a high-altitude pasture, covered with enormous boulders overgrown with mountain pine, surrounded by high rock massifs and numerous ponds. The pasture’s grassy areas are the result of pastoral activity; currently, the pasture is gradually overgrown with dwarf pine.

The pasture is home to the Murowaniec PTTK Tourist Shelter and the Observation Station of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The yellow-marked Murowaniec Shelter – Kasprowy Wierch hiking trail, the black-marked IMWM Station – Świnicka Przełęcz hiking trail, the blue-marked Kuźnice – Zawrat hiking trail, and the green-marked Siedlarska Droga Wierch Poroniec – Murowaniec Shelter hiking trail run through the pasture.
