Ostra Góra
Ostra Góra – a hill with a height of 348 m above sea level on the Krakow Bridge, in the western part of the Sowiniec Range. It is located on the main ridge of the range, bordering Sowiniec to the north through the Janasówka Pass and Pustelnik to the southeast. Its southern slopes descend into the Łupany Dół gorge, its eastern slopes descend into the Wolski Dół gorge, its northwestern slopes descend into the Mokry Dół gorge, and its western slopes descend into the Gomółczy Dół gorge.
Ostra Góra is composed of Mesozoic rocks. During Miocene tectonic movements, these rigid formations were cut by numerous faults and shifted vertically relative to each other, contributing to the formation of numerous tectonic horsts. Ostra Góra is composed primarily of Upper Jurassic rocky and bedded limestone, reaching thicknesses of up to 200 meters. Numerous limestone outcrops can be found here. Karst features and several caves, shelters, and crevices occur within the limestone.
The summit and slopes of Ostra Góra are covered with a forest resembling natural forest. Deciduous trees predominate, primarily beech, oak, and birch, with interspersed fir, hornbeam, linden, maples, and sycamore. The trees form birch-oak, birch-oak-beech, mixed oak, solid beech, mixed beech, and mixed birch forests.
A section of the northern loop of the Kraków Fortress Trail runs through the summit.
