Warownia na Trakcie Rock
Warownia na Trakcie Rock – a rock formation in the Mały Beskid Mountains, located on a side ridge extending north from the Roczenka peak. The peak is located at an elevation of 627 meters above sea level.
The rock is composed of Istebna Sandstone (Upper Cretaceous – Paleocene). It is a thick-bedded, hard flysch sandstone of gray-yellow color, which in this area contains numerous admixtures of coarser grains and small quartz pebbles (grading to conglomerate in places). It was formed by selective weathering – the harder and erosion-resistant Istebna Sandstone block survived, while the surrounding softer shales were washed away over time. This formation takes the form of a magnificent terrace and rock pulpit, approximately 7 meters high, and has been protected as an inanimate natural monument since 1964.
On the western side of the rock there is a black-marked tourist trail called Targanice – Zajazd nad Przełęczą Kocierską.
