Kalwaria Zebrzydowska – a city in southern Poland founded in the first half of the In the 17th century by the voivode of Kraków, Mikołaj Zebrzydowski. The city is located in the Wieliczka Foothills, at an altitude of 335-400 m above sea level, at the foot of Mount Żar, on the Cedron River.
The Passion-Marian Sanctuary of the Bernardines in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is one of the most interesting landscape and architectural assumptions in Poland and one of the most frequently visited Polish pilgrimage sites. The complex includes a basilica and a monastery located at the top of Mount Żar, and to the south and east of them there are 42 chapels and path churches. In 1999 the Sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (basilica, monastery and paths) was entered on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
