Tarnowskie Góry Hummock – a physical and geographical mesoregion in southern Poland, near Tarnowskie Góry. It occupies the northern part of the Silesian Upland. From the south, it borders the Katowice Upland and the Jaworzno Knolls. From the east, the Tarnowskie Góry Hummock is adjacent to the Siewierz Valley, from the north to the Upper Mała Panew Depression, and from the west to Chełm and the Bojszów Depression. The highest hill is Góra Łubianki (398 m a.s.l.) located near the village of Mierzęcice. The region is a strip of hills 50 km long, 4-12 km wide and 410 km2 in area, stretching between Siewierz and Toszek. In terms of topography, Garb Tarnogórski is a structural threshold made of limestone, marl and dolomite of Middle Triassic age. Cut by the valleys and river valleys of the Drama and Brynica rivers, it forms a complex of smaller humps and plateaus. The region is highly urbanized with a dense road network. The post-industrial areas of the Tarnowskie Góry-Bytom Underground have been included in the Natura 2000 program as a habitat for many species of bats. The development of the Tarnowskie Góry industry related to the extraction and processing of metal ores (zinc, lead, silver) contributed to significant degradation of soil and water.
