Region: Tenczynek Hills
Tenczynek Hills – a physical and geographical mesoregion located west of Krakow, which is the southern part of the Krakowsko-Częstochowska Upland. The highest hill is Góra Zamkowa, a hill with a height of 407 m a.s.l. located in Rudno near Tenczynek. The Tenczynek Hills is a tectonic horst with a rather complicated geological structure, falling with faults to the Oświęcim Basin and the Kraków Gate. It is separated from the main part of the upland by the tectonic sinkhole of the Krzeszowice Trench. The landscape of the region includes typical elements of the Jurassic landscape: rock cuts, karst valleys, small caves, ravines, ravines, tectonic faults. A large part of the area is occupied by forests: Carpathian beech forests, mixed pine and oak forests, alder riparian forests and oak-hornbeam forests.
