Tag - Elijah’s Spring
Elijah’s Spring – a spring on the left slope of the Eliaszówka Valley. It rises near the Kulenda Gorge within the Eliaszówka Valley Nature Reserve.
The spring’s aquifer is located in Carboniferous limestone. It is a subslope, runoff spring with a low flow rate (3.5 l/s). The water has a temperature of 8.2°C and a neutral pH (pH = 7.23). It is freshwater, containing bicarbonate, sulfate, and calcium, and is slightly mineralized (459.0 mg/l).
The spring is encased in a heart-shaped casing. This casing was built over 100 years ago. Above the spring is a stone chapel from 1848 with a painting of the biblical prophet Elijah.
The water flowing from the spring flows into the Eliaszówka Stream (officially known as the Czerniówka Stream). According to legend, anyone who drinks from the spring will find true love. Hence its other name – the Spring of Love.
