Tag - Kiczera (Kiczora) Mountain

Kiczera (Kiczora) – a peak at an altitude of 827 m a.s.l. in the Mały Beskid Mountains. It is located in the eastern part of the Mały Beskid Mountains, informally called the Andrychów Beskid, in a ridge extending north-west from Wielka Cisowa Grapa Mountain, which descends through Wielki Cisownik Mountain, Izebnicka Pass, Kiczora and Żar Mountain to Międzybrodzie Lake. From the south-east, through Izebnicka Pass, Kiczera Mountain borders Wielki Cisownik Mountain and from the west it borders Żar Mountain. To the north-east, a ridge extends from Kiczera Mountain, descending to the Wielka Puszcza valley. To the north and then turning west, a ridge extends from Kiczera Mountain, which descends through the Snoza peak to the Soła River in the town of Porąbka. Kiczera Mountain is made of thick-bedded Godula sandstones, which have a fine-grained structure, with a slightly blue or green tint.

The summit of Kiczera is partially covered with forest. On the north-eastern side of the summit there is a vast glade, from which there is a wide view of the Wielka Puszczy Valley, the Bukowiec Range, Jawornica Mountain, Groń Jana Pawła II and Leskowiec Mountain. Below the summit, on the western side, there is a glade, from which there is a distant view of the Magurka Wilkowicka Range in the western part of the Mały Beskid Mountains, the Barania Góra and Skrzyczne Ranges in the Silesian Beskids and Romanka and Pilsko Mountain in the Żywiec-Orawsa Beskid Mountains.

In the past, the summit and the slopes were covered with shepherds’ pastures and meadows. Currently, sheep grazing is no longer profitable and the slopes are gradually overgrowing with forest. A mixed lower montane forest with a significant share of beech is gradually being rebuilt on the slopes. The foothills are almost entirely used for farming and residential development due to human activity.

The peak is crossed by the red-marked Mały Szlak Beskidzki trail and the yellow-marked Porąbka-Rzyki trail.
