Bukowa Góra (Świętokrzyskie Mountains)
Bukowa Góra – a hill at an altitude of 484 m a.s.l. in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. It is located in the central part of the Klonów Range, of which it is the highest peak. The second, lower peak of Bukowa Góra is located approximately 600 meters to the west. To the west, Bukowa Góra borders the Jończykowa Górka peak, and to the east, its ridge descends to the Krupka Stream. The northern slopes descend steeply to the Psarka Stream, while the southern slopes gently descend to the village of Klonów.
Bukowa Góra forms a ridge approximately 8.5 km long composed of Lower Devonian quartzite sandstones. On the northwestern side of the peak, covering an area of approximately 90 square meters, numerous blocks and monoliths of rock, approximately 5 meters high, are located. This is an example of inselberg rock formations that formed during the glacial period as a result of processes similar to those occurring today in polar regions. The rocks clearly show signs of erosion and weathering. The rock relief is diversified by vertical fissures and larger rock fractures. The rocks were originally formed as sandy sediment from a shallow body of water. Imprints of brachiopod shells can be seen in some varieties of sandstones that make up the Klonowskie Range. Where the rock is composed almost exclusively of brachiopod remains and remnants, we encounter so-called spiriferous sandstone.
Bukowa Góra is covered with a beech-fir forest with a rich and diverse undergrowth containing protected plant species. In addition to the Carpathian beech forest with glandular honeysuckle, the Sudetes beech forest can also be observed, with a slightly different species composition.
The distinct forest type compared to the Fir Forest, which dominates this area, led to the incorporation of this part of the Klonowskie Range into the Świętokrzyski National Park in 1996.
Near the summit, the green-marked Jerzy Głowacki Trail and the yellow-marked Barcza – Bukowa Góra tourist trail intersect.
