Krzakoska Rock
Krzakoska Rock – a rock outcrop in the Silesian Beskid Mountains. It is located on a side ridge extending from Stożek Mały. Its upper edge lies at an altitude of 720 meters above sea level.
The rock is characterized by vertical, in places strongly overhanging walls, reaching heights of 10 to 15 meters, and the entire rock sequence is approximately 100 meters long. From the flat top of the outcrop, a panoramic view of the Vistula River valley and nearby mountain ridges, including the Równica and Cienków ranges, unfolds. Due to its outstanding landscape and scientific value, the site was protected as an inanimate natural monument in 1958.
Geologically, Krzakoska Skała is a classic example of an inselberg composed of Carpathian flysch rocks, belonging to the so-called Silesian nappe. It is composed of thick-bedded, weathering-resistant sandstones and conglomerates of the Lower Istebna Beds, which were deposited on the bottom of a former ocean during the Upper Cretaceous period (approximately 70–80 million years ago). The current, austere shape of the rocky pulpit, with its numerous crevices, eaves, and niches at its base, is the result of long-term processes of erosion, frost weathering, and gravitational subsidence of the entire Kobyla slope.
