Region: Elbląg Heights

Elbląg Heights – an isolated moraine clump on the Gdańsk Coast. In terms of morphology, the Elbląg Heights is a vast patch of wavy ground moraine. Its north-western edge steeply descends towards the Vistula Lagoon, taking on the character of a cliff edge in some places. The Elbląg Heights reaches its peak on Srebrna Góra (198 m a.s.l.). The significant absolute height and large local differences in height created favorable conditions for the formation of deep ravines and gullies on its slopes, which are the result of erosive activity of streams flowing radially from the Upland towards the Vistula Lagoon and Lake Drużno. The Upland is mostly covered with mixed forests with a predominance of beech. The mountainous nature of the terrain favors the occurrence of mountain and upland plants rare in northern Poland.
