Tag - Stratenec

Stratenec – a peak at an altitude of 1509 m above sea level in the Little Fatra Mountains in Slovakia. It is located in the main ridge of the Malá Fatra Kriváňská, between Malý Kriváň, from which it is separated by the Priehyb Pass, and Biele Skaly, from which it is separated by the Vráta Pass. In the north-westerly direction, a short side ridge branches off from the peak, separating two valleys: Kukurišova Valley and Prostredná Valley; both are upper branches of the Kúr Valley. The south-eastern slopes descend to the upper part of the Sučianska Valley.

The top of Stratenec is made of quartzites, while the lower parts are made of limestone and dolomite rocks. The ridge of Stratenec is open, and the slopes are grassy and overgrown with dwarf pine. Thanks to this, wide panoramas stretch from the peak and the ridge.

The entire north-western slopes of Strateniec are under strict protection (Suchý Nature Reserve).
