Trail of the Eagles’ Nests – a red marked tourist trail running through the Lesser Poland and Silesian Voivodeships, 164 km long. The trail connects Kraków with Częstochowa, passing near the most important castles of the Eagle’s Nests, Jurassic castles and strongholds built on rocks up to 30 meters high.

Castles located on the trail: Korzkiew Castle, Ojców Castle on Złota Góra, Pieskowa Skała Castle, Rabsztyn Castle, Bydlin Castle, Pilcza Castle in Smoleń, Pilica Castle, Ogrodzieniec Castle in Podzamcze, Bąkowiec Castle in Morsko, Bobolice Castle, Mirów Castle, Olsztyn Castle.

The first proposal to create the trail was presented in 1927 by Stanisław Leszczycki. In 1930, a trail was marked out and marked in red, running from Kraków through the Ojców Plateau and the Tenczynek Hills, and then returning to Kraków. The trail along this route was not maintained and was forgotten. In 1948, another attempt to mark the trail was made by Kazimierz Sosnowski – a famous tourist and local expert. In 1950, thanks to funds obtained from the Ministry of Communication, the trail was finally marked. In the following years, the route of the trail was corrected many times.

In addition to castles, you can also admire a number of other attractions on the trail – historic religious buildings, products of nature, which undoubtedly makes it one of the most picturesque trails in Poland.
